Susan Eastman, 71, of Marco Island, Florida, passed away unexpectedly in her home on June 17, 2017. She was born in East Orange, New Jersey on December 27, 1945 and spent her childhood in Florham Park, NJ and the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years Robert Eastman; son Michael Sheldahl and daughter-in-law Marcia Sheldahl of Post Falls, ID; daughter Wendy (Sheldahl) Hull, son-in-law Cordell Hull and grandson Matthew Hull of Essex Junction, VT; step-son James Eastman of Aurora, CO; brother Todd Dolan and sister-in-law Angie Whiteman Dolan of Bristol, TN; and sister Anne Dolan of Greensboro, NC. She also leaves many beloved cousins and more cherished friends than you can count.

As most know, Susan's passion was music. Her life was spent singing, from church choirs, community and professional choruses, opera and even a wedding or two. For the last 21 years, her 2nd home was Boston Lyric Opera, where she contributed in many capacities, not the least of which being "opera mom." She shared her talents and caring spirit with many other organizations including Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services, Chorus pro Musica, Opera Theatre of St. Louis and the Metropolitan Opera National Council. The list of lives and hearts she touched is long.

A musical celebration for Susan Eastman will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28th at the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, 41 Berkeley Street in Boston, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services - 61 Medford Street, Somerville, MA 02143; or the Boston Lyric Opera Emerging Artists Initiative - 11 Avenue de Lafayette, Boston, MA 02111.
